During our 45th Reunion this September 2004 view was captured at dusk of the restaurant at Mission and Bellows which was almost unchanged 45 years later. Left: Like a number of MPHS Class of 1959 alums, Connie Wittekind Conley and husband Joe Conley of Lansing Michigan spend their winters in Florida. They have a vacation home in Nokomis somewhat south of Sarasota. This photo was taken in late February 2006 after a lunch with Reunion website webmaster Eric Filson at the retro-50's restaurant Cheeseburger Cheeseburger in The Landings between Sarasota and Nokomis. Connie is our 2009 MPHS Class of 1959 Reunion Chair. She will be calling on many of you during the next couple of years to help make our 2009 gathering the best and most fun ever. |
1999 Reunion Memories Included Time at the Pixie The Class of 1959 held its 40th Mt. Pleasant Reunion Sept. 17-19, 1999. Events included attending a Sept. 17 MPHS football game with Ionia, a run-walk at Island Park, a dinner at the Mt. Pleasant Country Club, and other social get-togethers. Several luncheon gatherings were at the Pixie Restaurant on North Mission. | Sept. 18-20, 2009 Fiftieth Reunion Program A 2009 Reunion Planning Committee meeting was held Thursday, June 11, 2009 in Mt. Pleasant. Attending the meeting were: Connie Wittekind Conley, Nancy Coon Bailey, Jean Hanson Smith, Beulah Ruegsegger McQueen, Jan Brien Huffman, Verna Nolan, Margo Helber Link, Bob McAlester, Pete Moutsatson, Gary Taylor and Wayne Anderson.. The next Committee meeting was held at the Brass Café & Saloon in Mt. Pleasant on at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009, at 1:00 P.M. The Committee has settled the Reunion Schedule below. 50th MPHS Class of 1959 Reunion Weekend in Review: Friday night get together at Mountain Town Station. Meet at 8:00 P.M. in the lounge. A sign will be there directing our people. (They expect a crowd that night. Some of us might want to eat dinner there, as well.) Saturday morning walk. Meet at the shelter at Island Park at 9:30, then walk. Saturday lunch at the Pixie. Be there at 11:30-11:45. (Our name will be on the marquee, but they’re not “rolling back the prices,” as previously thought.) Saturday afternoon Trolley Tours. The first tour will be 1-2; the second, 3-4. Per person charge: $5.00. Note: Other options may include golfing Saturday morning (Wayne’s working on this), or attending the open house at the new Education Building at CMU that weekend. Banquet Saturday Evening: Cocktails at 6:00 P.M.; Dinner at 7:00 P.M. Cash bar. Per person charge: $30.00. (Riverwood Golf Resort). Brunch & Tour of High School Sunday Morning: Brunch will be at 10:00 A.M., followed by the tour. Per person cost: $7.50. |

| The 2014 Reunion Planning Committee will meet 5:00 on Saturday, July 17th at Buck's Run. It will be great to visit with those of you who will be able to attend. Will discuss: Scholarship fund update and fall mailing; Would mailing boost fund? Mailing out a class photo; Committment at reunion ; Concerns/questions with our scholarship recipient; Our recipient may not be or may be attending college this coming school year - currently exploring this with Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation. Possible news letter with scholarship mailing? Bucket list theme for next reunion? Possible slide show for next reunion? These are suggestions.. |
