'At the open house at the new school there was a big cake and contents of a time capsule. The contents that I remember are the headlines of the Daily Times News showing the parade that we school kids put on to get the voters to give us the millage for the new (1957 version) high school. There were also several copies of the Stude (our student newspapers). We were not allowed to touch anything so I couldn't pick it up and read it. There were speakers and the band.' --Recollection by Ruth Collins attending the September 17, 2000, dedication in Mt. Pleasant of the then new and current 2000 Version of Mt. Pleasant High School. This building replaced the MPHS we attended at the same location that was constructed in 1957 and demolished in 2000. |
